There’s a concept in animation called the “uncanny valley”: as a character increases in human likeness, so do the feelings of familiarity and empathy towards it. Mapped out as a graph, that emotional response is a line on an upward trajectory. But the “uncanny valley” is the sharp dip that the line takes right before the point of ordinary human appearance: it represents the discomfort people feel towards a subject that appears almost—very close to, but not quite—real.

ACTOR Alden Richards and Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales were among the coauthors that gave inspirational talks during the launch at the Manila Polo Club of “Beyond All Barriers,” the fifth installment of “Coincidences or Miracle?” book series edited by Flor Tarriela and Butch Jimenez.

Other authors joining the launch were Philippine National Bank vice president Rico Alfiler, Mama Sita Foundation president Clara Lapus, Rags to Riches CEO Rebecca Bustamante, Xurpas founder and Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 Nix Nolledo, and Nurture Spa owner Cathy Turvill.

Alden Richards admits to being affected by the wave of negative criticisms being hurled against screen partner Maine Mendoza on social media. 'Hindi ko nga po maintindihan kung bakit ang dami-dami nilang sinasabi against Maine. To think na mas lagi ko po siyang nakakasama. Mas kilala ko po siya.'

Kahit mismo si Alden Richards ay nagugulat sa mga naglalabasang paninira sa ka-loveteam niyang si Maine Mendoza.

Aminado ang Pambansang Bae na nakikita niya sa social media na nagri-react si Maine, at nalulungkot daw ito sa ginagawang pambabatikos sa kapareha.
