One half of the Filipino love pairing AlDub, the artiste dropped his latest album on 10 October. What was your main source of inspiration for your latest album release?
Alden Richards: My family and fans are my main source of inspiration for this new album. I’m very thankful to everyone with the huge success of the Wish I May album, and it has inspired me to do better with this latest album, Say It Again. What kind of sound/mood were you trying to achieve with this new piece of work? Alden Richards: The sound of the 2nd album revolves around the concept of being current, pop, and accessible. The album producers wanted to show growth (from the 1st album) and movement on this album. The album features a number of pop-electro/stylish upbeat tracks plus a heartfelt ballad that compliments my on-screen persona, it also includes my personal choice of contemporary Christian/inspirational cover songs. Did you compose the lyrics and/or arrange the music in track? Or it was done in collaboration with the professionals at GMA Records? Alden Richards: I have no composition in the album. However, GMA Records prepared several materials from different composers and presented them to me. The choice of songs that went into the album was a collaborative effort between me, my management and GMA Records. CD sales or music streaming? The streaming business is growing very fast in countries such as Philippines, but has it reached a point whereby it has replaced CD album sales? Alden Richards: In the Philippines, digital sales and music streaming has taken over CD (or physical) album sales in recent years. Based on data provided by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI), for the first half of 2016, digital sales amounted to 78% share of the market vs. 22% of physical sales.
