A few things you should know about Alden Richards's dream house for his family

Alden Richards gives YES! magazine a tour of his two-story home.

This is no mystery: Alden Richards has a new house, and he gives the public a peek of it in the January 2017 issue of YES! Magazine.

The actor/TV host/concert performer/recording artist/product endorser calls the two-story and decidedly modern residence found in an exclusive subdivision in Sta. Rosa, Laguna as his dream house for his family.

“Super happy ako,” he said in the YES! interview.

“Okey ang location, kasi paglabas mo nandiyan ang mall, paglabas mo may church, paglabas mo may hospital. ’Yan din ang kinonsider ko na malapit, e.”

Being near a hospital is very important to Alden because his grandparents, whom he calls Lola Linda and Lolo Danny, are already 80 years old.

Additionally, Lolo Danny has been wheelchair-bound since suffering from a stroke a few years ago that caused his muscle atrophy.

His grandparents’ health condition and general welfare were top on his mind when he decided, sometime in 2014, to look for a place that he and his family could call their own.

“Suntok sa buwan na naghanap ako ng bahay for my grandparents para hindi sila natutulog sa sofa,” he recalled.

“’Yong priority ko no’n when I was looking for a house was dapat merong room sa baba. Pag walang room sa baba, regardless of how it looks, hindi pasok.”

Just a few months after he bought the property, the AlDub phenomenon happened.

Despite Alden’s super-busy schedule starring in the “Kalyeserye” segment of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! with his love-team partner Maine Mendoza, and doing other work-related activities, the celebrity homeowner personally supervised the house’s renovation, which stretched to ten months.

“Masyadong demanding ’yong work, sobra 24/7, one year and a half na,” he said, talking about his schedule in 2015, at the height of AlDub mania.

“Dire-diretso. Nakakain ako sa dining table namin—since May—seven, or eight times?”

Touching his off-white couch, he added, “Ito, siguro pang-apat, panlimang beses ko pa lang nakaupo dito. Kuwarto-labas, kuwarto-labas lang talaga ko. Wala pong time talaga.”

Alden spends more time in his bedroom or man cave, where he also keeps his enviable Iron Man collection.

He owns Iron Man collectibles of various sizes and designs, including a life-size figure that stands guard near his bedroom door.

“Kinakausap ko siya minsan. Joke lang!” he said, chuckling.

He has another collection that he values so much that he won’t think twice trading his Iron Man collection for.

This collection is consisted of a statuette of Our Lady of Lourdes, which has been with the family before he was even born; the rosary that hangs from the praying hands of Our Lady of Lourdes, which had been blessed by Pope Francis in Rome; a silver Holy Cross given by a friend; a wooden crucifix from Jerusalem; a glow-in-the-dark crucifix from his childhood; a Saint Benedict’s medallion; and an image of the Holy Family.
